Implants are used to replace teeth lost due to an injury, periodontal disease, tooth decay and other reasons. An implant is an artificial tooth. Your real bone fuses to the artificial root, and an artificial tooth or a prosthetic appliance is placed on the implant(s). The result looks and feels like a natural tooth. Implants are often used to support a partial or complete denture.
It is important that your mouth, bone and gum tissue are healthy so you have a solid foundation for your implant(s). You may need treatment for other conditions such as tooth decay or periodontal disease before we can begin your implant.
There are certain medical conditions that may contraindicate implant placement. We will review those with you and help you get them treated.
